I had Mechanical Turk OCR a big stack of handwritten forms for me. The Turkers made some mistakes in the transcription that I would never have made, because I knew what the writer meant to write. I wonder if the writers let their handwriting grow sloppier because they expected the forms to be read by someone with enough context to be able to correct any misreadings.
