Thao Nguyen with the Get Down Stay Down - “Swimming Pools” (via Stereogum et al). I think it’s a cute nostalgic summer song about life and living it! but I haven’t listened closely.
I feel a little guilty about my thing for Thao Nguyen. She’s a Falls Church native who graduated from W&M, and the desire to have some sense of local connection to Thao and her music is probably as important as what her music actually sounds like and means to me. I’m afraid I’m like that about a lot of things from DC. Maybe I just want to pretend I lived here.
She’s moved to San Francisco anyway, so screw it. Cute song!
