How We See Ourselves and How We See Others -- Pronin 320 (5880): 1177 -- Science

Abstract: ” People see themselves differently from how they see others. They are immersed in their own sensations, emotions, and cognitionsat the same time that their experience of others is dominatedby what can be observed externally. This basic asymmetry hasbroad consequences. It leads people to judge themselves andtheir own behavior differently from how they judge others andthose others’ behavior. Often, those differences produce disagreementand conflict. Understanding the psychological basis of thosedifferences may help mitigate some of their negative effects.”
